This is the second part of the Advocacy in Action training. Completion of this course if required to receive all CEs for both parts of this series. 

Designed for family advocates who work in child advocacy centers, this training teaches the essential skills required for family advocates as determined by the credentialing standards of the National Children’s Alliance.

Objectives

Participants will learn:

  • The essential duties of family advocates
  • The types of and impact of children maltreatment
  • To identify and utilize dimensions of culture to enhance engagement with caregivers
  • The ethical standards related to family advocacy
  • Crisis response and intervention skills
  • Risk assessment and intervention skills
  • Foundational information about MDTs, victim’s rights, and the court process
  • The importance of self-care for family advocates
